These past five years have been really wonderful, but they went by way too fast! There is hardly enough time to do everything I have planned. Of course, the five grandchildren take up quite a bit of time. If I had known they would be so much fun, I would have had them first!! Now that I am retired, I am doing all the things I never had time to try. (No, buggy jumping is not one of them). I took up hunting about eight years ago, and it is fun. This year, I added a quad runner and I think riding through the woods is probably more fun than we ever had just hunting. The winter is not boring for me. I carve faces on pine knots, which I sell all over the United States. I also do the same with the knitted baby clothing I make.
When we graduated, I never would have thought life would be so good. I thought my parents had boring lives, and maybe it was just that there wasn't as many things to do because technology hadn't offered as much yet. However, there are two things that have bothered me over the years. When we attend the reunions, so many of us say we live in the area, but we never see each other. When I shop, I don't see anyone I know. I might as well be in another town. The other thing thing that bothers me is (and I'm sure you will agree) that this forty years went way too fast! At eighteen years old, I could never have imagined we would grow older so soon. Somehow, you just can't picture yourself being your parent's age. Maybe youth really is wasted on the young, who just can't appreciate it!!
